CV: Sugita Tomokazu
Rating: A
Role: AoE Damage, Nirvana Magic Fist
Story
Phoenix Ikki has returned from hell, and he'll be reborn no matter how many times he is beaten down, becoming stronger with every rebirth. Everyone calls him ‘The Immortal Bird’. Ikki’s Feathers of Fire are capable of dealing heavy damage and chipping away at the enemy.
Skill Analysis
Phoenix Feather: Basic attack, 0 cost.
Drops a phoenix feather dealing 80% (85%/90%/95%/100%) C.DMG to 1 enemy.
Passive skill - Ember: Revival, 0 cost
Phoenix Ikki has an 80% (85%/90%/95%/100%) chance to leave behind embers upon death. The embers inherit 10% of Phoenix Ikki's health, and Phoenix Ikki will revive from the embers in the next action round with 30% health. (can only revive 1 time in each battle)
Tip: His passive revival enables him to return to the battlefield after being killed, but he will be weak with very low HP during his state of Nirvana.
Phoenix's Wings Rise: AoE, additional damage, 4 cost
Ikki launches a torrential flurry of blows like the spreading of a phoenix’s wings, dealing 160% (165%/170%/175%/180%) C.DMG to all enemies with a 20% chance to further increase this attack's damage by 50% (using Phoenix's Wings Rise increases the chance by 10% for a total of 50%).
Passive skill - Searing Ashes: AoE, 0 cost
When Ikki revives, all enemies take damage equal to 40% (45%/50%/55%/60%) of C.DMG.
Analysis
Ikki isn’t great for bursting, but as one of the main AoE Cosmic attackers, he deals stable damage with the occasional surprise, which gives him rather low aggro. While checking his skills, they might not seem too strong, but a double buffed Phoenix's Wings Rise is nothing to frown upon.
Cosmo
Red: C.Stone (C.ATK & C.DEF)
Yellow: Tenacity (HP & P.DEF)
Blue: New Moon (P.DEF & SPD)
As Ikki brings stable damage, Thought Control makes a good choice for a red Cosmo as it greatly increases his damage. For yellow the choice will be Tenacity to raise his defensive stats. Though, you may also pick another yellow Cosmo depending on your taste, it is not that vital. For his blue Cosmo, we have New Moon granting him P.DEF, but more importantly SPD.
Special Cosmo: Chain of Hephaestus (deals an extra 40% damage against targets with more than 70% HP):
The increase in damage ability pairs well with high-cost C.DMG skills.
Lineup
When using Ikki as a main damage dealer, consider choosing Luna or Nachi as supports. For support/damage Dragon Shiryu is also a good choice to further improve AoE damage. Or choose Seiya and strike a balance between AoE and single target damage.
As a support character, Ikki mainly relies on supportive Cosmo. It is also important to learn when to use basic attacks and when to use skills. These are the main Saints that couple well with Ikki.
Counters
When facing Ikki as a main damage dealer you’re in for a world of pain as he possesses high AoE damage. His ability to revive effectively grants him two lives, which greatly increases his survivability against single-target damage dealers. During the early rounds of battle, a good choice is to control Ikki, making him unable to stack up his buff, thereby ridding him of the ability to easily turn the tables. Focus your damage on other important targets that are easier to kill, for example Sextans Luna or other low defense damage dealers.
